There is a major problem in today’s society and it is this:
For the most part, our men are not acting like men.
There is a lot more to Men’s Health than merely eating right, exercising, and playing tackle football on the weekends. When it comes to the all-around health of a man, I prefer to think about it spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, and relationally. After all, what man out there doesn’t want to be the best man he can be—throughout the entire sphere of his being?
When God made Adam & Eve, He made them male and female. Men are different from women in many, many ways. We are complimentary to women but we are also vastly different from women. And that is by design, by the way.
Men are not better than women and women are not better than men. We’re simply different. The problem, however, is that too many men are failing in their roles today. We are not living up to our potential. Many of us are not the role models we should be, such as being a loving husband, a good friend, a hard worker, or a caring father.
There is a very real sense in that too many men in our American culture are rather feminine, wishy-washy, weak, unstable, uncommitted, lazy, and downright unhealthy. Brothers, these things ought not to be!
God’s design for men is that we be leaders and act like it! In fact, one Bible verse in particular says precisely that.
“Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)
God intends for men to be strong, alert, and to act appropriately! In Joshua 1:6-9, the Lord said the following to Joshua. It was a heavenly pep-talk to motivate Joshua to step-up and grab the reigns of national leadership. And praise the Lord that it worked! God said,
“Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
