First… I’m not a doctor, a health practitioner, or even some strange new age guru. What I am is a husband, a father of five young children, a small business owner, and a Christian.
Second… You were never meant to deal with stress in your life. You were created in the image of God and you were fearfully and wonderfully made. We shouldn’t have figure out how to deal with stress in our lives.
And yet, we do.
So, an article on how to deal with stress should seem irrelevant and useless, but we both know it is very relevant and, hopefully, this one will be useful.

How to Deal with Stress
Christians and non-Christians alike are stressed out and anxious all the time. We worry and fidget and tremble and experience high blood pressure.
Why? Because we sin.
Yes, you sin when you stress. You have to learn how to deal with stress because you need to know how to live with sin both in and around you. It is a necessary evil brought about by evil itself.
5 Tips on How to Deal with Stress
You may currently be experiencing stress and anxiety in your life from things like:
- Marriage or dating
- Parenting
- Problems with your weight or eating habits
- Your job or career situation
- A sick or dying loved one
- Current events around the world
- _________ (anything else under the sun)
But whatever you are going through right now, Lord willing these tips will help. If I can do anything else for you, feel free to leave a comment below or contact me via email.
1. Realize that it’s not the end of all things. This life is a vapor. It will end shortly for all of us. I believe what the Bible teaches about eternity. If Jesus Christ is your Savior, you will spend eternity in heavenly bliss. Therefore, there is always bright light at the end of dark tunnels for all people who surrender to God.
2. Other people have likely experienced what you’re going through, and have been victorious! To me, there isn’t anything that creates and stirs hope for the future like knowing that it can be done. You can win. You can overcome. In fact, the Bible refers to Christians as overcomers on many occasions. Other people have been victorious and so can you!
3. Open yourself up to people who can help you. This person may be a pastor, a licensed counselor, a good friend, an accountability group, or even a trusted mentor. There is something to be said about getting it off your chest. Talk about it with someone, and soon!
4. Lay it at the foot of the Cross where Jesus paid the penalty for sin. If you love him, he wants to take away the pain, the frustration, and the stress. Pray to God that he would remove the anger, the pain, the resentment, and whatever else is holding you back from moving forward. Ask God, by faith, to remove it all as far as the east is from the west.
“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.” (Luke 12:29)
5. Resolve today that you will no longer stress over whatever you’ve been dealing with. Look, the best way to deal with stress is simply not to let it bother you anymore. I’m not saying that you just close your eyes to the problems around you. What I am saying is that there are only so many things you have any real control over in life. There are myriads of things happening in your life that you can’t control. Therefore, focus on the things that are true and let God handle everything. I remember in college studying “stress” and most of the surveys pointed to evidence that the things people stress out about rarely ever come to pass! So don’t worry about something that isn’t likely to happen anyway.
SUMMARY OF HOW TO DEAL WITH STRESS AND ANXIETY:
- Realize that the best way to deal with stress is to understand that it’s not the end of all things.
- Other people have likely experienced what you’re going through, and have been victorious!
- Open yourself up to people who can help you.
- Lay it at the foot of the Cross.
- Resolve today that you will no longer stress over whatever you’ve been dealing with.
